Location: Kansas City, Missouri
The proposed plan for the development of the commercial node and residential area beyond the intersection of 63rd & Prospect in Kansas City, MO increases neighborhood connectivity in an area where it is currently impaired. A key feature of this neighborhood design is its interconnected hierarchy of public spaces. A combined land use and urban design plan, it integrates a variety of open spaces – ranging from neighborhood parks with designated uses (playground, sports field, dog park) to environmental features and landmarks (green infrastructure stormwater retention, watershed protection, picturesque overlook) – activating streetscapes and connecting to the anticipated Brush Creek Trail. DRAW is providing urban design and architectural design services in collaboration with HOK.
An integrated transit facility at the intersection will facilitate transfers between routes (including, the proposed Prospect MAX and US-71 Downtown express lines).
