Dominique Davison founded DRAW in 2005 with the desire to explore the intersection between research, resourcefulness, and simple, clean forms. Her award-winning practice has been recognized regionally by the Mid-America Regional Council as a leader in sustainability and was named Firm of the Year by the American Institute of Architects Kansas City Chapter in 2014.
Dedicated to issues of social and environmental equity, Dominique endeavors to improve people’s lives through inspired, resourceful design. Her commitment to vibrant communities is exemplified through her involvement as a founding member of both Women in Design Kansas City and the Ecological Urbanism Series, and by her recent service on Kansas City, Missouri’s Environmental Management Commission’s Vacant Lot Task Force. She has also taught design studios at the University of Kansas and University of Missouri Kansas City.
Before relocating to Kansas City in 2004, Dominique honed her design skills in the offices of Pelli Clarke Pelli in New Haven after earning her Master of Architecture at the Yale School of Architecture. She received a Bachelor of Art in Architecture from U.C. Berkeley and launched her career working with Daniel Solomon FAIA.

Dominique is an activist at her core and has been known to “take to the streets” to advocate doing the right thing.
Dominique is also a punk rocker. A classically trained cellist, Dominique began channeling her activism into her music during her college years, playing bass guitar in several all-woman bands, including a Bay Area hardcore punk rock band called Spitboy.
Dominique credits her mother for her entrepreneurial spirit. Growing up, she watched her mother start a business from scratch and pour her passion and commitment into it. This influence gave Dominique the courage to start her own business as an adult.
Dominique is not easily distracted; however, if some good quality dark chocolate walks into the room, the most efficient way to proceed with her is to drop everything, enjoy the chocolate, then pick up where you were, unhindered by the siren’s call.
