Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Project led by Dan Maginn, FAIA while a Principal at el dorado inc.
Three towers mark the entrance to the Northeast Industrial District. The grouping plays off of the industrial typology of “cat in the hat” striped smokestacks–especially a very prominent 15-story smokestack at the eastern terminus of Front Street, visible from the site.
The city-commissioned work communicates the importance of sustainable design in industrial processes through the use of PV panels, which power the lights. The 3 towers (50, 44 and 38 feet tall, respectively) are each 48” in diameter.
