Location: Kansas City, Missouri
This project involved the planning and design of a site along Kansas City’s Troost corridor. Developed on the prominent intersection of Linwood and Troost, these apartments fill in a missing element in the ongoing renewal of the Troost corridor. With pedestrians, building scale and history in mind, the building honors the street fronts creating energy and activity at the corner of Linwood and Troost with gracious sidewalks and human scaled elements moving along both streets. Ample parking is hidden in the back, accessed by the 32nd terrace alley.
The façade design is a modern take on the original building materials and textures in the area. Modulated brick and glass with hints of color reflect the art deco elements in the neighborhood and the Katz Drug store that originally occupied the site.
