Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Project led by Dan Maginn, FAIA while a Principal at el dorado inc.
In the programming and design of this project located in an established neighborhood of “traditional” houses, the owners challenged the design team to find common themes in the seemingly divergent architectural languages to which they were drawn. The process resulted in a deceptively simple design that combines an exposed post and beam structural system, traditional lime stucco skin and a generous overhanging roof.
The house is anchored by a central staircase with open risers to let in daylight that services all levels and terminates in a dramatically glazed home office space with stunning views.
