Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Looking to open their flagship Messenger Coffee café as well as expand the popular Ibis Bakery brand into the hip Crossroads Art District, the client’s young entrepreneurial team worked with DRAW and collaborating designer, Boor Bridges, on the restoration of a 18,430 square foot historic building and add a new rooftop deck for a bakery, coffee roaster and café. Historic tax credits at the State and Federal levels are currently being pursued.
DRAW provided services including historic preservation, interior design and exterior architectural upgrades including window replacement. The team is carefully respecting the character of the 1911 building while inserting programming to accommodate a variety of uses; a state-of-the-art roasting facility with green bean storage, café experience, roof top gathering space, workout room, administration office space and bakery for both resale and wholesale.
