Brought onto a collaborative team of architects, web designers, landscape and urban planners, DRAW is working as sustainability consultants for the Mid-America Regional Council’s Code Framework and Community Audit Project.

The team is assigned with producing a model sustainable code framework that identifies codes, strategies, and policies that local governments can adopt and apply to facilitate redevelopment and sustainable development within their communities.

Armed with this model code framework, the team will conduct eight code audits of development regulations and other related codes and policies for eight partner municipalities – Fairway, KS; Gladstone, MO; Grandview, MO; Independence, MO; Mission, KS; Prairie Village, KS; Raytown, MO; and Roeland Park, KS. Each code will be reviewed for the most significant and relevant sustainability issues for that jurisdiction.

This information will be gathered and formulated into a user-friendly website that is easy to navigate, update and search for code strategies. The website will serve as a national model for promoting sustainable development codes.
