Location: Crossroads Arts District Kansas City, Missouri
Project led by Dan Maginn, FAIA while a Principal at el dorado inc.
The design for the Kansas City headquarters of Woodruff Sweitzer, an innovative brand-development company in the Crossroads Art District, played off of their tag line: unexpected ideas, nurtured in fresh air. The Design Team worked with the entire staff to better understand and prioritize their needs, creating a truly collaborative work and conferencing environment.
The space was a bit challenging: very skinny and very long. To avoid a “landlocked” feel, The Team developed both full size and “Tokyo-sized” conference rooms, and injected natural light into it through the use of strategically placed windows, maximizing the glazing to the north and south while maintaining a visual connection between the two.
